About the position

Physical and financial systems are under growing pressure from a changing planet. Neural Earth fuses geospatial intelligence and AI to help organizations understand how environmental, social, and economic factors intersect across space and time. By transforming massive geospatial datasets into clear, actionable insight, Neural Earth enables decision-makers to anticipate risk, strengthen resilience, and plan with confidence—from individual properties to global portfolios.

Neural is hiring a Mechanical Engineer to lead the design, prototyping, and testing of our modular aerial platforms. You will work across mechanical, electrical, and propulsion systems to build robust drone systems capable of supporting multi-mission payloads for defense, climate, disaster response, and logistics use cases.

This role requires expertise in aerostructures, CAD modeling, propulsion system integration, and mechanical-electrical design for flight. You’ll work with embedded and autonomy teams to ensure platform readiness from concept through field testing.

Responsibilities

  • Design aerodynamic structures using CAD and simulation software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD Fusion, ANSYS, FreeCAD, etc).
  • Integrate propulsion (electric, hybrid), power distribution, and control systems.
  • Conduct bench testing, wind tunnel analysis, and flight validation.
  • Support airframe prototyping with in-house and external fabrication resources.
  • Collaborate with autonomy and payload teams to meet mission-specific specs.
  • Document testing, performance, and design evolution.

Qualification

  • BS/MS in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related.
  • 3+ years working on drone or UAV airframe design and manufacturing.
  • Experience with electric propulsion and high-efficiency battery systems.
  • Familiarity with embedded systems, sensors, and EMI design principles.
  • Expert in drone concept to deploy
  • Comfortable working in cross-disciplinary hardware and software teams.
  • Experience in 3D printing, and carbon fiber components

Preferred

  • Experience with MIL-STD aerospace requirements and documentation.
  • Familiarity with FAA Part 107, 135, or airworthiness certification paths.

Travel

  • Up to 15%
